Ed,
Can I ask where you got the EMGO guards?
Thanks,

Does anyone know if the Tusk handguards at Rocky Mountain Part # 192636 (Tusk D-Flex) are the same as the Tusk handguards Part# 191104 without the plastic. Is there a better plastic cover than the D-Flex (part# please). Thanks.

I have my eye on Acerbis Rally Pro Handguards and Maier Deluxe Woods
Pro Hand Guards. Have not decided which to purchase. Any thoughts on
pros and cons for each pair?
KLR650 Southwest desert rider. Lots of sand to travel through; but only
rocks to fall on.

Before you decide, I would look at the CYCRA Alloy probends. They are a little pricey, but offer lots of hand room, plus no bending is required to mount them. They make lot's of other styles also including an all high impact plastic version that cycle gear sells for under $70.00. Here's a link http://store.cycraracing.com/cypralha.html .

The rally pros look great, and will save your levers. They are knd of soft, though. You will find yourself looking for a vise to bend them back into shape. I have a set of Maier woods pro guards with Woods pro full coverage
plastic covers. They're rugged, and looks like they'll last a long
time. Plus, I didn't have to bend them to install them at all which
made installation a breeze.

If you have the red version of the KLR, I would go with the black
plastic as the red does not closely match the color of the bike.

Can the stock KLR plastic handguards be fastened to the Maier Woods Pro
Guards, or does a fella need to buy the $30 plastic bits that say Maier?

The Emgo guards are worth a look. With some shims and drilled holes, the original plastic hand guards can be bolted to the Emgo guards. Mine have been going strong for 2 years.

Anybody out there running without any handguards? I'm wanting to take
mine off and haven't decided if I'm going to put anything else on.
This is mainly because I've got Manic Salamander bar end weights and
all the aftermarket guards I've seen require attachment to the
handlebar ends.
Second (dumb) question: Are the hubs on a KLR 650 the same as on a KLX
450 or KX 450 F?
