Post by revmaaatin » Mon May 12, 2008 8:38 am

Dear List, I am not the "Worlds Fastest Indian" but I may be the worlds fastest rev on a KLR! 11 May 08, at appoximately, 1430 MDST, level ground, I hit 115mph indicated, --and that is into approximately a 20 mph crosswind off the starboard bow. How about that! cough. revmaaatin. (1998 KLR w/ 22,7xx miles) ps Yeah. More to follow. cough.

Rev, I've hit a hundred on mine a couple of times on flat ground with a slight tailwind and that seems to be all she's capable of.... Mine is (box stock) and even has OEM tires. DING-DING-DING! WE HAVE a WINNER! Wayne 'reads' the post correctly! Not in a pick up truck, not in a chopper (which by the way, I gave them back their keys to the helo in Jan--now full time pastor again) and not drafting a big truck.... Crazy speedo. Steady 75mph indicated, 5500 rpms w a 14/43-sprocket combination. Gradually, the speedo got faster and faster until it topped out at 115mph 'indicated' but the bike was still a steady 5500 rpms. Fellow poster Jeff Saline suggested the speedo head neads a little 3- 1 oil. Tomorrow, another KLR task...will that count as a numbered farkle? You can see it now: Farkle#146--well oiled speedo head. cough. More later on a new-to-me 98KLR650 and the 2300-mile trip to get it home... revmaaatin..
