julian tech day was killer!

Met up with a couple of KLR.netistas near Corona and rode dn with them. JD had the John Deere tractor muffler mod on his 08 that sounded WICKED! Checked my EagleMike doohickey at 21500 miles and it was fine. Then went dn to the Donkey Show in TJ. Then spent the night in Huntington Beach Hotel and had a killer breakfast at the Sugar Shack in H.B. I witnessed a few year old stock doohickey less than 10K procedure. The hook on the end of the spring had broken off and the guy tied up the best motorcycle stand/lift most of the day. He was still searching for that bit of metal when I left for TJ. Evidently there was a shootout between rival drug gangs in TJ but I didn't hear or see it. STOCK DOOHICKEY SETUPS DO SUCK; I HAVE NOW WITNESSED SEVERAL. Oh and as TJMarco says, "Adelita's in TJ is the happiest place on earth." I caught the excellent end of the extended innnings Padre game but it was hard to concentrate with all the Coronas and senoritas coming up to me, calling me "Papi" and asking me to go upstairs with them. Why do they call me Papi? I am pretty sure that I am not related to any of them!(Yet) :-) Jeffrey

I have a Wee Strom with a California Scientific tall shield that I mounted on it within two weeks of ownership. I am 6'1" with a 32 inch inseam, It made a huge difference on my Wee Strom, and was the best investment I think I ever made on that motorcycle. I can ride with my visor flipped up, and receive no wind, no noise, it's just perfect! I bought my 90 KLR last year and it had just the stock windshield on it. I bought a tall Clearview windshield for it because I don't live far from their factory in Bailey, CO. They let me test all three heights of windshield on the same day, and did the installation for me. Although it works ok, it isn't nearly as good as the one on my Wee Strom. I'd be curious to know how the California Scientific shield works out on your KLR. I don't think they make one for the older KLRs, do they?
