<><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><><> Ed, I haven't seen a reply to this so thought I'm make a comment or two. The tire is 5 years old at a minimum so that makes it a fine candidate for replacement. You have 3K miles on the tire and that is usually about what I remember hearing folks say they had when they started getting concerned about the remaining life in the stock tire. Mine was pretty well shot at 3,250 miles. I kind of recall someone posting that they had over 7,000 miles on a stock rear tire. I think that's the exception and not the rule. Seems to me it's time to consider replacing the stock tire with something that is more specialized for you specific riding style and conditions. If I had a bike with 3K on it and tires that were 5 years old or older I'd probably be replacing both tires at the same time. At the rate you seem to be adding miles to the bike, spending $150 on tires would work out to maybe $30 per year. I suppose you could also look at that as spending $0.05 per mile on tires. Just my thoughts on replacing old tires.
