And, just to follow up on this: they claimed the replacement shield would ship Thursday night or Friday morning at the latest, and that it would ship "by air", so that I would have it "Monday or Tuesday at the latest". In fact, it did go out sometime on Friday but it went out FedEx Saver, which is a "3-day" service that often goes by truck; it's generally even a little bit slower than Priority Mail. They also didn't have a tracking number handy, which didn't inspire confidence... Well, that is, they're saying it went out Friday. But how would I know? What I do know is that it was allegedly shipped with a 3-day service on Friday but it's not here yet. I'm even less impressed with their business practices than I was before. Thor

It sounds as if you are describing my recent tire purchasing attempt with MotorcycleTirePlanet.com. I was told the tires were supposedly shipped two different times before they finally offered to refund my money because they couldn't provide a tracking number as proof of either shipment and I was tired of waiting. Needless to say I'm still waiting for my money. Anyone care to comment on how they like their after-market windshields. I want one taller (and a little wider) than stock and confused at the options. Don't want/need anything huge .but want to get the majority of wind OVER my helmet not directly at it klr650john eagle point OR

I have tried several windshields. The only one that worked for me (6' 1") is the ceebaileys 10" over stock. I tried the Kawi dealer taller one but the buffeting was really bad. The ceebaileys is huge but I mostly ride street so its not a problem. No buffeting at 80mph. Very smooth. --- On Tue 10/14, austin2jm < klr650@... > wrote: From: austin2jm [mailto: klr650@...]To: DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.comDate: Tue, 14 Oct 2003 17:47:36 -0000Subject: [DSN_klr650] windshieldAnyone care to comment on how they like their after-market windshields. I picked up a Clearview +9" in the summer from Happy Trails in Boise Idaho this August and rode back to Winnipeg. I am very pleased with it. My friend has the Kawasaki +4" and the Clearview shield is twice as thick. I am not certain how it would compare with the Ceebaily, but thicker is better for toughness in my mind. As far as on street performance, the buffeting and wind roar is substantially less compared with the stocker. I can also tuck under it in the rain and cold weather. I am 6' with a 32" inseam and this screen puts the blast just over the top of my helmet. I have taken the bike on some subdued trail riding with the windshield but I would be a bit paranoid about doing any double jumps with it. But if I were to do any riding like that, it is only 3 bolts to pull the windshield off. Douglas Dick Winnipeg, MB CA mailto:ddick2@... I think the operative words are "talking about". If I were to actually do them I don't think the bike would forgive me (if it recovered). Nice to dream about it though. :) Douglas Dick Winnipeg, MB CA mailto:ddick2@... I was just wondering if anybody who uses the tinted tall windshield has had problems with visibility. I think the tinted looks a lot cooler, but was wondering if the clear would be safer. Thanks, eh! Rob

I have the Clearview +9 tinted. There is no problem with visibility as I look over the windshield. Douglas Dick Winnipeg MB ddick2@... KLR650 A16 -----Original Message----- From: rmeredith@... Thanks to a friend, I had the tinted tall Kawasaki shield on last year. At 6' tall, it put the airflow right at mid-helmet. That has to be the most unpleasant experiences going. Although, on the bright side, I was beginning to develop neck muscles like Conan the Barbarian. So, I just put on a Clearview 11+ that they call smoke, or something. In either case, unless you're a midget, you won't be looking through the windshield, but over it. I think the tint is more of an "appearance" thing than something functional.
