I've been running a Garman III for about 5 or 6 years now. Has really been a big help to me in my travels. Let's me know when the roads are coming up and the best thing is. I look on street altas is get coordinates of a place I want to go and punch it in and bingo, the little guidance arrow helps lead me right to it. I did this to a friends new home in Tennessee Summer before last and it led me right to his front door. This in a new little resort community with a lot of confusing roads around a lake. Another thing is I run back roads a lot and sometimes get low on gas. So I use to end up at a good blacktop crossroad and not have an inkling of where I was at and which way was the nearest town. With the GPS I just extended the range and see where the towns are and go that way. You can't believe how many times it's saved me from doing miles the wrong way when taking wrong turns. Now, I have just ordered a new one for my Christmas present from Tom at Cycle Gagets. The 176 with 64 meg chip and Map Source. Plus the mounts to swap it back and forth beween the KLR the R1150GS and my Truck. The other handy feature is the ability to download your trip on your computer on Steet Altas and see where all you've been that day. The Garman III only goes down to Major State roads on it's Map database but the bread crumb trails will come to light in the Steet Altas program and show you all the back roads youve been on. Yes, I'm spoiled to them. Ha ha ha. Andy Louisiana

Andy, using the 176 with the detail of the area you are riding in loaded in the memory card from Map Source, when you have need for gas or food or lodging, you can do the "Find" function, decide which one you want and then a "Go To". This will navigate to where you want to go. Hope you enjoy your half as much as I have mine. Dick Chambers Columbia, SC [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
