I have found (and heard form others) that the starter button is a
fickle little number. It often takes me multiple tries to get it to
engage, although it always does eventually. Sometimes I just push it
and rock it some. I don't know if that is normal or not...I chaulk it
down to "the charm." (this is all the quirky stuff I am too lazt to
try to fix)

It's the "wont start in gear because the kickstand is down" relay. Either in the clutch handle or on the kickstand. You can bypass these switches, but I just cleaned these areas real good and it works fine now.

Have you cleaned and tightened your battery terminals? Sometimes they vibrate loose.

I had a similar problem on my A17....Push the button and mostly it would start and other times it would just make a clicking sound.. got to a point where it would not start, but just click...turns out it was a defective starter relay... replaced it and havent had a problem since..

WD40 would not be your friend with a non O-Ring chain, it could actually rinse away the grease that is in the rollers. I bought a non O-ring chain last fall/end of summer to get me through till spring, rode it some this past summer also, but noticed I had to adjust the darn thing almost daily(commuting 100+ a day), but only paid like $15~$18 for the chain though some supplier at work. Have since replaced with bulk chain (O-ring of course) and a master link (chain we used to replace Polaris ATV stock chains) back when I was working at the shop. I did use chainsaw bar oil on the non o-ring, but still 55+ for an hour even that did'nt like to stay on for long.
