Shoeis fit me so well I hardly know I'm wearing one. Still, I wore a Nolan for a few years. The fit was OK, nothing like the Shoei, but the convenience was worth it. I bought an XD because it fit me like a Shoei, and because my accessory house gave me a great price. I love it for the fit, the visor, and the vents, but I don't kid myself it protects my head any better than my old Nava or AGV, or my $70 Thor mx helmet. I have had concussions in just about any kind of helmet you can think of. Hmmm, maybe I should just learn to ride.> > You're right--fit and comfort are at the top of the list. Thanks a million, everyone, for the excellent responses. You have given me MUCH to think about. In the mean time, do any of you motocross helmet folks wear glasses? I wonder how the goggles work with a pair of increasingly more necessary pair of specs???
Thanks,
Clyde

They work fine, just get a set that are made for wearing over glasses like Scott OTGs (over-the-glasses). Z> Thanks a million, everyone, for the excellent responses. re: glasses, When I bought my goggles last week, I saw some that were
designed to wear over glasses. One thing to consider: I bought clear
goggles and when I'm riding into the sun, they're difficult. I started just
wearing my sunglasses with my helmet and pulling on the goggles in the
rain. Note: rain sucks with a Motorcross helmet. I felt like knives were
piercing my lips. Broke down and bought a full-face as soon as I got home.
Two other notes on helmets: 1. I bought a DOT approved Z1R MX helmet for
$40. It even has removable innards so I can clean them. Go with the Z1R,
just make sure you get removable pads. 2. If you commute on your bike, or
expect to get caught in the rain sometimes, carry a bandanna or something
with you to avoid the knife throwers.

valve job - another question
At 6k have you at least checked the clearance ?
KLR will tighten up over time, too tight would do as you said.
But big thing would be could burn a valve/valve seat.
I set mine to upper end of spec the first check/adjustment at well ok
more than 500 miles I think it was around 3k while back and just
checked them at about 10k and both exhaust were still at the upper
limit where I set it and the intakes were at the mid spec mark.
I put the cover back on and kept going.
