Yeah, I understand what you're saying, but the problem is that the list subscription appears to still be closed. My reply went to the list, and to the original "Arrowhead Motorsports" poster. His reply to me was reasonable and articulate - and made specific mention of the fact that "the group membership was full." It sounds like the main complaint was the credit card charging... Bad part about this, the person who originally bought the parts is a member of this list. Too bad he couldn't take the problem to the list on his own. He'd have gotten the same treatment, but at least he'd be the one getting it. Not his "friend". millerized

Many of us wish the list was always open to new members and would certainly welcome your buddy's input as we do yours. Not sure why it isn't, to tell the truth. I thought the spamming thing was handled. As for vulture analogy, I'd say we're more like a pack of lions protecting one of our own 8~) __Arden

>>>>>> Actually, we've both been riding much longer, I suspect than most in
here. I've been on some type of bike for the last 31 years, how about you? Hello Tim, If you count the Cushman Super Eagle, I was riding in 1963. Rode it to school (eighth grade), in 1964, weather permitting. Was my older brother's until he went to the Air Force. Didn't get a real bike until I bought my new 1967 Honda 450. At that time, it was the biggest bike from Japan. Never had a car in high school, only bikes. Currently have six bikes, my A14 has 53,000 miles. I'm glad to see that you are still on the list. There have been a couple of times that I said something that upset members of the list. Short messages here often don't tell the whole story, so the readers often "suspect". I just let it go. After a touchy subject has been discussed, everyone pussy foots around it, or makes humorous references to it. When this subject blows over, we can get back to KLRs and all learn something. (Two subjects to stay from are deer and spelling. There may be more. ha ha ) Allan A14

Dear "trsrdr", I have purchased from Fred Hink approximately a half a dozen times over the last two years. I have bought at least US$1,000 of KLR suspension, accessories, tools, etc., from him. Fred's advice, service, and order fulfillment has been world class in every instance. I use Fred Hink as the gold standard against which I judge all other vendors. -- Marc Illsley Clarke, KLR650 A12, Loveland, Colorado, USA

That's fantastic Allan! I started riding at (believe it or not) 4 years old, almost 5. My brother could ride our new (used) Z50. I just had to keep up with him, so my neighbor, (cool guy) set up blocks for me to take off and stop on. Over the years from 60cc's, 80ccs 90ccs and a bried experience with a '71 Honda 450 DOHC, similar to your '67, I moved to a 1000cc Harley, vintage '79. That's where I learned to work on bikes. If you rode a cast iron Harley very much, you had to know how to work on them. Currently I own an ST1100, KLR650 and a KDX220. Recently, I rode the KLR from Missouri to North Carolina for some Dual-Sporting with previously mentioned individual. For the road, the ST is almost unbeatable. For trail riding, the KDX is fantastic, and for the in between, the KLR is a fun do-it-all bike. I am more of a rider than a forum surfer and now I know why. I didn't think telling about an experience would upset so many people. I mean what was said actually happened, but some things said to me and alluded to were mere conjecture. You obviously are quite a rider and can obviously relate to this experience. I wish there were more people like you here. For the rest of you, start riding more, it'll help with your sense of reality, and read entire posts, not just the parts you like or don't like.

Can't say this sounds like Fred at all. I've ordered from him several times and always had the parts in hand within a couple of days. Usually feels like the parts get here before I hang up the phone. Even had my begrudginly motocycle accepting in-laws call him to order Christmas gifts one year. They commented a number of times on how kind Fred was and what a pleasure it had been to do business with him. I think he kind of blew away their images of biker guy. One of the best dealers I've ever dealt with. Todd

I have ordered items from Fred Hink in the past. When I am able to ride again, I will order item from Fred Hink in the future. I would not hesitate to recommend Arrowhead Motorsports to anyone. I am sorry that your friend feels that he was not treated fairly, but perhaps he should take that up directly with the vendor and not use a third party to slam Mr. Hink on this list. I found it interesting that neither you or your friend have names???????? Kathleen Lake Elsinore, CA. KLR A13 TDM '92 CB400A '78 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Dear Unknown Whiner, I have personally dealt with Fred upon a few occasions, and had the pleasure of actually meeting the man this last August, and he seems pretty straight to me. As a prison guard I deal with a lot of actual crooks, most of whom really like to enjoy anonymity when telling either half-truths, or selected parts of a story. Obviously some normal folk would do the same, but not many. Take the hint and mature, soon. David C
