I just removed the 3 inch sewer pipe tool tube from the front of my A18 and relocated it to the "muffler area" on the left side.
The front of engine location now sports an 18 " length of 4 inch PVC tubing with thread in caps on both ends.
If doing a tool tube, I strongly recommend that you use glue on end caps and thread in caps on both ends.
The 18" length seems to be about maximum for my use as we ride in rocks and rough trails. In order to obtain 18" length with end caps in place, the PVC pipe needs to be 14 1/2 in length.
The rear pipe is mounted by a pair of hose clamps and the HT racks are protected from the hose clamps by some square PVC tubing sleeves.
Modification # 90. (VBG. Don't bust my chops over the number. I'm simply having fun keeping count)
It would be fun to hear from someone who has done more than 90 mods. Maybe we can see the same shrink? (VBG)
Norm

<><><><><><><> <><><><><><><> Norm, If you get some time I'd be interesting in seeing a list of what exactly you have in each tube. I'm pretty sure I could pick up a hint from your stash. I am pretty sure that his senility comes from the 10lbs. of cannabis that he stuffs in that front tool tube.

Hey Norm, that s my mod...j/k
when i reallized my 4"tube was rubbing against front weel(i had to take off
the heavy engine guard and make two square brackets to attach the tube so it
won t rub anymore) i tried to install it as a second exhaust pipe but the
caribou system is too narrow to allow it. a 3" tool tube sounds a very good
idea for additional storage.
would you mind posting a picture of your tail tool pipe and how you fix it?
i know you ve got a HT rack...
thx
Jerome

Do you have photos of the rear pipe mount? How do you keep the pipe from flopping up and down?
thanks,
Chris

Jeff may have given the wrong impression when he used the term "stash". I've seen enough movies to know that cannabis and "stash" relate to the drug thing but I'm altogether the wrong generation for any of that foolishness. (VBG) Jeff has caused me enough mind altering by asking for a list of what I carry! That means pulling things out and listing them..... Wonder how many times I'll forget what I'm doing.....
