Post by robertham1 » Fri Jun 22, 2007 9:13 pm

I just bought a new 08 klr and i im looking for some highway pegs, tall windshield, and other accessories... I also have a couple questions.... does the old oil drain plug the same as the new oil drain plug? after the 1,ooo mile break-in, what is a good cruising speed for the klr? ive heard its OK to cruise at 80, but thats hard to beleive... any feedback and links would help a lot, email me at Robertham1@........ thank you... -Robert

Hi Ron, There are some bikes that should not be taken some places...but you just said that. I had a blow-hard say to me, when I asked what kind of bike he had..."It will out run anything you got." Now, this was coming from a large statured 60+ male human, notice I did not say 'man', and then later I learned that this 'speed' machine was incapable of doing anything constructive, as it had a huge hole in the 4cyl Yamaha crankcase after being ridden [drunkenly] over a large granite stone in the dark. go figure. I related this incident to our friend Jeff Saline one day while we were wrenching, and he suggested the correct response to such a 'dare' --"it will out run anything you got"--just smile and say, "Sure, but I get to pick the route." revmaaatin.
