I finally got up and running today after charging the battery for only
about an hour or so on a 2 amp charge.
I did however check the fluid level in all 6 cells and 3 were very low.
I wouldn't think I would have had to fill them after just having the
bike in for its 3000m service and oil chsnge.
I wonder if the low fluid levels were the culprit. Would low levels
cause the battery not to hold a charge ?
Anyway it seems to start fine and I'll see what happens after parking
it overnight.
Thanks for all the advice and suggestions.
Sean

Congratulations, Sean--you've just learned that your dealer doesn't do a thorough job.> I wouldn't think I would have had to fill them after just having the > bike in for its 3000m service and oil chsnge.

Absolutely! That's why several of us recommended checking the level.> I wonder if the low fluid levels were the culprit. Would low levels > cause the battery not to hold a charge ?

Mike Jacobs Black Forest, Colorado. He ridea s KLR and a Concourse. Someone in this group asked the question and I went to his site and read the about the trip.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW HIS SOUTH AMERICA TRIP TURNED OUT? His trip down & back was interrupted by transmission failure on his KLR. He made it back as Miami on March 24, 2007. His site does not said if the KLR arrived at the airport and he rode home safely.
He writes a good long trip story with interesting comments on border crossings, the people who offered him lodgting, and a cruise to Antarctic.. The trip started 12/2005 and lasted 159 days. He returned to Brazil with parts in March of 2007, rebuild the transmision and was in the Miami airport on May 24, 2007 waiting on the KLR. His site is www.klrog.com
