Hi all:
I made the mistake of parking the bike in the "park" position with
lights on for about 5 hrs.
Needless to say I drained the battery.
I tried following the jump start procedure as described previously on
the board but all I got was a faint clicking.
What did I do wrong ? cheap cables ? improper connection ?
Any ideas on how to get up and running ?
Should I try a battery charger ?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean

Sean, a faint clicking means that the starter isn't getting enough power. Did you use a fully charged battery to try and jump-start your bike? -- Blake Sobiloff http://sobiloff.typepad.com/blakeblog/> San Jose, CA (USA) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]> I tried following the jump start procedure as described previously on > the board but all I got was a faint clicking.

Hey Sean--
You forgot to include the procedure you mentioned...
but a click usually means a weak battery. Are you
sure you had a good connection and that your good
battery really is good (from a healthy, OFF, car ?)
If so, you might also try jumping directly the starter
lead (on the starter side of the starter relay, under
that black plastic cover under the tank on the left).
If your KLR battery is otherwise in good health, one
discharge shouldn't kill it, so if you have a battery
charger you could leave it hooked up overnight and see
where that gets you.

wood bead pad $4
Look in the suppor section of this site. I think I posted an article on converting a Wal-Mart beaded car seat $8 into 2 motorcycle pads. By doing it yourself, you can make it exact size you want/need. I live in Ft Worth and have a sheep skin on the seat and then the bead pad. The pad does let air through and it comes off in seconds and allows you to get a different feel with the sheepskin below. The bead pad is especially good with cordura pants because you can slide around easier.
