false neutral?

Post by ellefauve » Mon May 28, 2007 4:14 pm

Okay, Until I actually started riding more consistenly, most of what I read here was theory, but I filed it away. Ive been searching the archives and found a few references to the false neutral, and Ive now run across it myself a few times. Is this just a result of lazy shifting, prompted by the quirkiness of the klr? Is this a very bad thing? And, today I did my first off roading, and wow, it was nothing major, but I on the way home I saw every field and dirt road in a totally diferent light. Felt much more confident too though far from cocky. I have a new hobby now, cant wait for next weekend! Jessie

first valve adjusment at 26,000 miles

Post by tonyc2me » Mon May 28, 2007 5:22 pm

I just completed my first valve adjustment at 26,000 miles. Only one valve was out of spec but I brought all four to the top of the specs. I went from 260 to 255, that was all the valves needed. One bad thing, I stripped one valve cover bolt. I did not put any pressure and I tightened in a cross pattern. Does anyone know the thread and pitch of these bolts? I need to heli-coil the blunder. Thanks for any help. TC
