This is what somebody reported seeing pass by on the list last week.

Thanks Russell, Seems like the writers/riders liked the bike!--only real complaint that I could discern was the seat.... I wonder if the std aftermarket seats are going to bolt right on? I would think so as there is no mention of changing frame geometry other than the swingarm. Odd that the rider did not mention that the ride-report was a collective opinion of 'X' number of riders, as the previous lister suggested that there were several that passed him by while he was parked along the side of the road. Perhaps some were riding the 'old- faithful' as a comparison? revmaaatin.> > http://www.motorcycledaily.com/30april07_2008kawasaki_klr650.html > > R > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] >

Yes - it'll be interesting to see what current aftermarket add-ons will fit the new bike. Overall it was a positive review... If I had the money I'd consider upgrading for the better headlight and the fairing - esp. if I knew I could move my Corbin and barkbusters, etc over to the 08. Of course a quick look in my wallet makes me realize it's a moot point> Seems like the writers/riders liked the bike!--only real complaint > that I could discern was the seat.... That was me. I saw about 10 new KLRs pass me, in all 3 colors.
I'm pretty sure they didn't see me, as I was well off the road and
my bright green KLR was parked under a tree with bright green
leaves (though no leaf color matches Kawasaki Green)
It was the right area, although I was well inland from the coast.
Given their probable route, the 270 mile figure quoted would be
about right, however.

They changed the weight to a more realistic "dry weight"
Our bikes weigh right around 400 pounds with a full tank of
gas.

Thanks, Russell! I was hoping they'd mention something about the durability of the new bodywork, as the show model didn't seem too robust from reports from others. Otherwise, it does sound substantially improved. Who doesn't want more horsepower and better lights? The suspension changes don't sound too bad, either. Heck, I probably only have another 80K miles left in my current KLR. Maybe I'll pick up a 2017 model.> This is what somebody reported seeing pass by on the list last week. > > http://www.motorcycledaily.com/30april07_2008kawasaki_klr650.html

Oh come on, you want it. You know you want it. I'm saying the same thing, but we both know that we're gonna have this thing in our respective garages by the end of the year> On 4/30/07, Russell Scott wrote: > > http://www.motorcycledaily.com/30april07_2008kawasaki_klr650.html > > Thanks, Russell! My take from the review and Elden's article is good news for consumers, not
so good news for aftermarket sellers of brake rotors, doohickeys, fork
braces, and springs.
Kawi seems to have addressed all the major issues people have with the bike.
The question now is did they miss anything? Only longer term use by the
public will tell.
