Hork, You have reminded us that time proven MSF adage, "Look where you want to go! Do not look at what you want to miss." I first learned this from lister Jeff Saline when I described my Christmas-2003 'death' on my new to me KLR 650. I left a widow, and two kids, aged 7 and 4. I had never been told, "look where you want to go." Thank God the girl driving the cage was paying more attention than I was on that KY back-road from Wilmore to Versailles, cause after crossing the center line--I had full-blown target fixation--her bumper and windshield--and I was DEAD for sure! She braked hard after seeing that I had crossed the stripe into her lane while rounding the reverse camber turn bordered with vertical ditches flanked by limestone walls) Her braking gave me pause to push harder into the turn and miss her front end by inches; and of course, someone was going to fast to stay in my lane. So simple, a caveman could have done it, if he had been going the posted speed limit. It was a much more, subdued ride for the next 40 miles. revmaaatin. who is one less, white-metal-cross on the side of the road in central KY> and don't repeat, because I know not everyone on this forum is a > "veteran" like you. > > Also I'd like to thank everyone else for the suggestions on fixing > the alignment/triple clamp issue, I won't be able to get to that > today because work just called me in but tomorrow is another day. >

california vacation: 2008 klr spotting
Today: Los Gatos - Coalinga road, north of Coalinga
I was sitting at a picnic table taking a break. My KLR was sitting in the
shade of a tree, and I heard the sounds of several bikes coming down the
road. At least 10 bikes came cruising past, all of them 2008s. All three
colors, too - red, blue, and green (that color was the giveaway). Unless
California released them to dealers already, I assume they were test riders.
In any case, they picked a good day and a good road! Too bad I didn't catch
them at a stop; I would have been all over them with questions.
(hasn't the dealer introduction been put off till later this year?)
I completed my loop by riding up to Pinnacles National Monument, then back
down on Route 25 - a great road for any bike. Finally, Route198 back "home"
to Lemoore.
