aftermarket fuel tank

Fred is definitely the man when it comes to the KLR parts. I ordered an IMS tank in Black from IMS, but they didn't have it, so I ordered a green and he had it sent out immediately.

Blake, How are you doing physically.... I been out on the horse (first time this year) for four hours on Friday. Did lil bike maintenance on Sunday (after doing 3 church services)--got them all going (5 + the KLR), rode horses four more hours on Monday. 8 mile ride in 40 degree wx with one of my riding kids, then 39 miles on Tuesday. My ribs hurt like I am only 6 weeks out from my 20 May crash. Painful. How about you? Do you have any rib issues? leftover trauma? When I have to drag the fuel hose for self fueling of the helo, it is also a trauma inducing event. I quit whining now. maaatin.

Hi Rev! Thanks for asking. I'm sorry to hear that you're still feeling some after-effects of your gravity storm encounter. I seem to be doing just fine, although my ribs ache a bit when the weather changes dramatically. I try to look at it as a God-given upgrade; I can now provide short-term WX forecasts, and get the occasional reminder that I'm not quite as young as I used to be. :-) -- Blake Sobiloff http://sobiloff.typepad.com/blakeblog/> http://sobiloff.typepad.com/klr_adventure/> San Jose, CA (USA) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Engine oil in the air filter, to me, would indicate severe engine damage: cracked piston, broken ring, or possibly a broken valve. However, as I said before, I'm not really qualified to speculate as I haven't had the "pleasure" of dealing with this symptom before and I can't recall anyone else who has (except maybe CA Stu??? I seem to recall a trip report of his on advrider where his KLR was drinking prodigious amounts of oil.). For example, I know that the Triumph 955 engine, if left running while on its left side, will puke oil into the airbox. The KLR? I'm not aware of any similar failure mode. I don't want to unnecessarily panic the OP, that's why I'm hesitant to comment. I'm hoping that someone else on the list will be able to provide some other possible causes that I'm not aware of. To my knowledge, overfilling the crankcase won't cause the engine to throw motor oil into the air filter. -- Blake Sobiloff http://sobiloff.typepad.com/blakeblog/> http://sobiloff.typepad.com/klr_adventure/> San Jose, CA (USA) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
