It certainly is possible to undertake this kind of travel... my experience was a 6000 km trip around West Africa (Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Mali, Guinea) in 1983 two up on a Honda XL 125 with all camping gear, tools, extra gas and a pile of carvings, rugs and bronze souvenirs perched on the taillight and that was higher than my passenger by the end of the trip. On the hills we simply did a slow steady climb in first gear, in sand we often had to walk! Fond memories though... Gee, it's not Ewan and the boys! That looks serious and more typical of what I like, kinda National Geographic style. The image was YouTube quality - low. Ladakh, huh? Been there, done that...but on a 150cc, not some big, powerful 350. What a wuss! (LOL) Well, OK, not all the way from Mumbai. This is taken at the top of the Kardung La pass, the highest road in the world. That little rented 150 Yamaha didn't miss a beat all the way to the a top, although it wouldn't idle very well.
