Clint, Take a look at the spring rate calculator on racetech.com. I think you will be suprised at their recommendations. I chose to ignore their advice and went with KLRLista wisdom. I got myself a 9" 450# Hypercoil spring. Unfortunately, it was like riding a pogo stick offroad and more diffficult to lean over in the twisties onroad. I weigh about 200#'s. I now have the spring offered by multisurfacemotorcycling.com and like it much better. This is just my opinion and personal experience. Also, check the KLR FAQ. Great resource !!! The short shock starts out 1" shorter and the spring mounts are adjustable with a large nut threaded onto the shock body so it is the shock itself that is shorter. The spring is actually stiffer than stock. Ken -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "Jud Jones"

Progressive Suspension makes a standard length and a shortened length shock. The information you quoted is for the shortened shock.

Per kawasaki.com: '87-'07 KLR650 shock P/N 45014-1362 ($644.25 ronayers.com) '90 Tengai shock P/N 45014-1422 ($702.11 ronayers.com) All parts of '90 Tengai shock ass'y are same as '90 KLR650 shock ass'y, except spring; similarity of hydraulic dampers unknown since they are available only with a complete shock ass'y. Ebay item 110097488377 might solve your problem for $105 + $12.95 S&H. Other options: have your shock ass'y rebuilt, or do it yourself, or buy an aftermarket shock ass'y. Fred
