I think you miss understood me
when I said "road dirt for years" I mean a dirt bike on a closed course
or in an OHV. No license need in that reguard. I never owned a street
bike till a few weeks ago so I had to go through the motions and get my
permit then go back for the skills test.

Considering you being special and all, I'll take the liberty of giving you a little guidance regarding your desire to pursue on-road motorcycling.
Take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course.
Pay the money, spend the time and live to enjoy your new activity. You will be pleasantly surprised with what you will learn. It may just save your life as well. Mixing it up with the cagers is a lot different than bumping into a fellow rider or blasting off of a berm. Good luck and safe riding.

OK, gotcha
. You might want to take a MSF course. You need a permit to
take it and you get a waiver in most states for the road test. Much easier
than taking the useless road tests.
I started out on dirt bikes. I thought the KLR would satisfy my dirt
cravings but it was too much of a pig offroad so I bought a Husky TC450.
Then I wanted something plated so I just picked up a DRZ400s this morning. I
hope I'm done buying bikes for a while.

I second the motion for the MSF course. I am in the middle of a disagreement with Progressive Insurance relative to my getting a state mandated 10% discount on liability insurance after completing the motorcycle safety course. I have gone back and forth with them in a couple of emails and so far they have been business like in their disagreement. Today I sent them the statute and an ultimatum. I will let the list know what happens.

Best thing you can do is send a certified letter and a request. then if nothing happens
dump them and move on.
I'd be surprised if they actually folled through with the discount. Insurance companies
never like to give money back.

No kidding. My wife recently dropped a car from our insurance that I had given to my nephew. The bill was $254 for 6 months. We of course expected out insurance premium to drop by that amount. Wrong! They just raised the premiums on the other cars by, you guessed it, $254 every six months. Time for a new company I guess Ross Lindberg Fertile, MN Oakdale, CA> never like to give money back. > Kerry >

I don't really care what they do, I just felt feisty today after being sick for five days. Sort of like the two vultures sitting in the tree waiting...one says to the other "to hell with this waiting around, I'm going out and kill something".
I can't believe how badly I want this weather to break here in CT. Wind chill still below zero..burrr. I ride at 35 degrees or more. I absolutely will not ride if there is any threat of ice. I have enough trouble keeping the shinny side up on pavement.

Odd that you should mention the discount: I am certain that when I moved from KY to SD, and had to change my insurance status/state, I was asked if I had attended MSF course. No. "When you do, let us know and we can offer a 10%discount." Odd, when I renewed in Jan and asked for the discount, it did not apply in SD. Very odd in deed. Sounds like smoke and mirrors to me. Is it possible that I am getting the same run around? revmaaatin.> > > Capt. Bob in Durham, CT. USA
