favorable as they were in AR (at least on cars).

I have had my bikes and cars with State Farm for a long time. Used to have my
homeowners' there, too. The rates, if not always the very lowest, have always been very
competitive. Only one bike claim, on a stolen SR500. They offered me a settlement that
was more than fair. That was always the case on my homeowners' claims as well, as when
my wife vaporized a pot roast on the stove. The settlement paid for a complete clean-up
of our house, property and furnishings, a new kitchen with much better appliances and
cupboards, and a little dough left over. On my auto claims, my experience has been
mixed. Most offers over the years have been good enough to accept without hesitation.
However, when I totaled my van last year, they wanted to lowball me badly. I had to really
make my case, not just with citations to the Car Soup listings, but by passing on my
comparitive analysis after looking at the vehicles first hand. It was a lot of work, but I was
shopping for a van at the same time, so most of it had to be done anyway.
