Last night I was at a video rental store and came across the classic movie On Any Sunday. Now I'm only 37 so it's really before my time but I remember it as a kid growing up. If you haven't seen it in 10 years or so it's probably worth a rent. When you see an old vintage bike in a garage it is hard to believe that in it's day the bike could really rip it up. When you watch the movie though there it is ...rooster tails, wheelies, you name it. When you go to a motocross these days you're really gonna see the big 4 (Kaw,Suz,Hon &Yam) maybe a KTM here or there. Back then, you got Harley-Davidson,CZ,OSSA,Bultaco,BSA,Triumph,Penton (maybe even a KLR) on & on the different names go.Funny how the times have changed. --------------------------------- Looking for earth-friendly autos? The best thing about that movie was the footage on Flatrack racing and coverage on the mile tracks. That kind of racing never has had the popularity that roadracing or Supercross has had. Pitching a bike into a corner on dirt at 100 mph surrounded by other guys doing the same ..... well it takes big cajones to do that. Any of you get a chance to go to Springefield Illinois to watch both the mile and short track races, you should go. Oh yeah Malcom wasn't too bad when he was young either. Criswell

Terry, Had to smile, and reply to your post. The times have changed, but the memories remain. I was a soph. in high school when four of us snuck in the trunk of a '50 Ford to see On Any Sunday at the drive-in. For those of us who rode, particulary what we called enduro's, it was a gift from the heavens. I had a Kawi Big Horn 350, in many ways the forerunner to today's King of Lousy Roads. When you consider about any other movie about bikes was the dunken, rapin' Bikers from Hell, it was nirvana. Thanks Think I'll stop by Blockbuster tonight. When I lived in San Jose, every year I would promise myself that this would be the year I'd go see the San Jose Mile. Never did, and then the neighborhood grew up around the fairgrounds and complained about the noise and it was booted out of town. :-( Matt Knowles - Ferndale, CA - http://www.knowlesville.com/matt/motorcycles '99 Sprint ST - for going fast and far (2CZUSA) '01 KLR650 (A15) - for exploring the North Coast backroads '97 KLX300 & '01 Lakota - for playing in the dirt '79 KZ400 - just because it was the first vehicle I ever owned

You betcha. Flattrack is the best spectacle in motorsports.

Heh, I've ridden with him. He recently came in sixth in his class in Baja - with a broken back. He's riding again in California on Feb 11th - Saboba Ride? And you think he was "good" when he was young? He's like a fine wine - and he's great now. Geoff- Yes. He's my idol.

Speaking of good movies, does anyone remember a movie form the late 70's (I think) called "Dirt"? A buddy of mine and I were visiting one evening and we both had fond memories of that movie. We were both kids when it came out, but I still remember a couple of scenes from the movie. My favorite scene was a motorcycle in the Baja 1000 riding full out after dark. A big Dodge pickup was 10 feet behind him providing light with LOTS of off-road lights, so the rider could keep going. Keep in mind that they are both going full out. If the rider would have made a mistake, the big Dodge would have run right over him with no time to avoid him. It was a scene I'll never forget and a movie that really fueled an already growing interest in motorcycles at an early age. Has anyone seen it, or know if it's available in DVD anywhere? I'd just love to see it again. Ross Lindberg Fertile, MN Oakdale, CA --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, Kevin Burns wrote:

Hey, that's what I do on the highway at night, with the Concours. Seems the KLR has better lights. --- rosslindberg wrote:
