Fred, I work with a bunch of PhD's, most of them are fairly retarded when it comes to anything outside of their area of study. While most of them spent time in school, a lot of us spent time working on bikes, cars, etc. I look at it this way; When I ask a dumb question about DNA, the star system or whatever, they are only too happy to spend the time it takes to "dumb it down" so I can understand it, the least I can do is share my talents when they need my help. This kind of generalization is like saying that all mechanically-inclined folks are like the grease-monkey Goober on the Andy Griffith show: talented in their own way but seriously stunted in others. Gee, Sorry if you took my comments to mean that mechanically-inclined people where like Goober, it wasn't intended that way. I guess I should have stated: Some of the PhD's I've know, where not very well rounded when it came to life skills. The ones I really get a kick out of are the ones that don't know how to look you in the eye when they speak to you, it's weird to have them look at a wall when talking to you.
