I went a motorcycle benefit ride for local firefighters survivors yesterday and it was of course filled with Harley's mostly. One guy I was talking to told me of how he spent 20 grand out the door for his ride. He also said he had to get a high interest note as his credit was bad (truck driver living in a trailer). He said he will have spent 30 grand counting interest after he was done (but that is probably not counting his add on accessories and maintenance). He didn't have a cover or lock for it yet as he parked it in front of his trailer (probably too broke to buy one). I saw right after that a chick walking around in an expensive Harley jacket that said "Ride Free, Ride Harley." Err ......not hardly ...... free. Wouldn't mind having one ......... but ..... I'll wait a while. My paid for Kawasaki's look pretty good. I wish I had bought the stock in the mid eighties. Criswell

My late mother did just that..............she bought around $10,000 in Hardley common stock in the mid Eighties and it's now worth $600,000 plus........don't know what the current value of her Hardley preferred stock is going for. So now it's just me and my brother splitting the Hardley stock. Still wouldn't buy one. Well maybe the XR1200 if they choose to make a production bike out of show circuit bike of the same name. I'm really happy with my two current KLR's and will prolly be happy with my third one next year. Kawi rules, Harley's for fools. I like to see all those poseurs buyin' them 2,000 mile a year bikes. Has anyone ever done a comparison analysis between Hardley sales and chrome polish sales? I wonder how similar the comparison graphs would be? Hey, look, I actually met someone who washed their KLR once, Blake can tell you who he is (I'm lousy with names). I'm not exactly sure why, though. The bike doesn't seem to mind. Mine has 34,000 miles on it and has never been washed. Unless you count riding in the rain as washing... -E

I must be an effete neurotic then like those people that wash their hands all the time. I last washed my bike after it was covered with clay that I suspected of being corrosive. Ron, I think Bogdan is pulling your leg-chain. He correctly suggests--If you had to wash only one thing, (besides your hands after...) it would be keeping the site glass clean so that you can see how much Rotella is still in the crankcase. revmaaatin. who knows that WD40 is good for washing the site glass also, but not good for washing your shot-glass, or so I'm told.
