Listers, Have a vibration I can't figure out. Any ideas would be helpful in tracking this thing down. Here is when/how it happens: it happens at all speeds it does not matter if the clutch is in or out it happens every second to second and a half it feels like I am hitting a couple of small bumps with the front wheel. it seems to be related to the front of the bike, I feel it through the handle bars. My thoughts are a loose "headset", (like on a bicycle where the fork tube goes through the frame headset) or a wheel problem. I have about two thousand miles on the bike, put a set of Distanzias on right when I bought the bike earlier this year so I don't know if the problem existed before I put the new tires on. Check your front wheel bearings carefully. They should spin nice and smooth.

This is a long shot, but if you remove your front wheel to check the wheel bearings, also check/clean/grease the speedometer gears on the front hub. Arden Kysely A11 "Mr. K"

wheel. Are the tires properly balanced? Any weights fly off of the rim? dat brooklyn bum (always check the easy shit first)

I suggest flatening your front tire and then re-inflating it. Maybe you got your inner tube in a bind? Have you looked at the front wheel to make sure the bead seated proplerly when you installed the tire? Did you run over a .38 snubnose? (Kidding, man) Anything's possible... CA Stu A13

[...] Aside from wheel balance considerations, it sounds a bit like the front wheel is out of round. Spoke tension and rim runout is a first service and regular service item, but I doubt any dealer does this job. Try jacking the bike off the ground, disconnect the speedo cable, and take the caliper off the fork leg (or retract the pads), and give the front wheel a spin while watching closely the vertical and horizontal runout of the rim. It probably helps to have some help to keep the steering steady while you keep a pointer of some sort steady near the rim. Maybe just looking at the fork leg from the side, near the top of the fork lower (where the fork boot goes on) would provide a natural marker to watch the rim against for vertical runout. If you can see by eye that the edge of the rim is going up and down in relation to the marker then you have probably found at least part of the problem. While the bike is off the ground you could check the steering bearings as well. Mister_T Melbourne Australia

Then when Honda brought it's 4 750's down to win Daytona, they had 3 very good overseas riders but needed an American riding just so it would look good. They gave (over the hill) Mann that ride and he won the race. His being the only Honda to finish due to the cam chain adjusting setup failing.
