completed my oil screen and do-hickey on my 2003
I finally worked on my bike this weekend. I started with the oil screen and coolant change. I could not believe the junk around my oil screen including the end to my do-hickey spring. I will post the pictures under 2003 oil screen. The only problem I had all day was when removing the 2nd cover to change the spring one of the gear assembly came out to the balancer chain (yes the one the do-hickey attaches to). The back washer came off and entered the black hole behind the gear. I did not notice it coming off, but after looking at the manual noticed it missing. After about 10 minutes of sweating and fishing my magnet probe finally pulled it out. I had no other problems. The bike is all back together except for one cotter key (to the rear brake) and the moose skid plate. I did use the smaller spring in the kit. I have run the bike for about 10 minutes and all seems well. I believe it is running a little smoother also.

Did you re-use the gaskets after checking the oil screen? I need to do the doo and am thinking of checking the screen and doing a coolant change as well. I reused all the gaskets except the for the water pump. When I did my Brother-inlaw we had to change all of his (1998).
