back from tat, early and broken
When I used to do a lot of dirt riding, we maintained a steady beer
diet throughout the ride. Never hit a tree, but I did attempt to
climb an impossible hill well oiled. The bike was sober and didn't
have the elevated confidence I did. It turned around and went back
down (vertically). I broke my ankle (Ugh) but kept on riding needing
more pain killer. When the pain killer wore off, I had to see the Doc
in the emergency room.

survival story
Some wise person once said, "It takes a day to walk the distance you
can ride in an hour." Of couse that assumes you can still walk . . .
Here's a story of some experienced and very lucky DS riders. Lessons???

Just like a flight, boat trip or back country hike - DO leave word
with someone where you plan to ride and when you expect to get back! A
map and GPS coords are even better. 10 essentials, WATER! Cell phone -
(very rare signal in the boonies). Portable CB or FRS radio - (short
range) OK but leave a check-in channel and time (i.e. on the hour, etc.).
Ride safe - to ride often!
