If the Lime Green color wakes up brain dead driver then it works. It is a 'be seen' color. Besides Black looks as though you didn't want to make a color choice. George, riding a Barbie in Escondido, CA Dan Vesel wrote:

I wear a bright yellow vest at all times when I'm riding, so I think that will make up for the black plus, I put on two 55 watt lights on my KLR and have a switch close to my thumb so I can turn them on when I come up to a bad intersection or see someone waiting to pull on to the street, and then I turn them off when I feel safe. I can't leave them on the whole time I'm riding because, well you know. I'm 43, Tim... --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Dan Vesel" wrote:

Kawasaki, it was a very bright Magenta-looking color and everybody loved it, but Kawasaki quickly retouched the photos to show the actual darker red that they ended up using, which to me was kinda disappointing. I also like the black tank on my KLR but only because of the overlayed decal with green, yellow and white and the accompanying green plastic cowling, it really pops. Some guy over at the V-Strom board painted his bike all flat black and I can only assume that he did this because his original paint was so messed up anything would look better. :-) LOL

Must be the stealth generation. :-) Reminds me of that Hummer commercial a few years back, "comes in black or gunmetal ..... I got gunmetal." :-) LOL Dan

Doug, Black with green trim? That's a stretch. However, having a green '06 in my garage last week for 3 days (Joe Tittiger of FL) I can see why he is so sucessful in riding his KLR with so little off road experience. The bike (colour) is so ugly that the earth repels it. revmaaatin. running for cover --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, Douglas Bouley wrote:

Hi Tim, Age 43? and Bulletproof are we? (wink and a smile) My other KLR, the Bell-407 medical helicopter dispatched by 911 does not ask how old you are when I am sent to pick you up on the side of the road. Conversely, 911 dispatch is not allowed to do a wallet biopsy to see if you can pay. I seem to recollect that being bullet proof always expires one or two days before we started riding motorcycles.... revmaaatin.

My "06" will be in camouflage as soon as I get the necessary dings in it. Capt. Bob in CT.

The only problem with hi-viz is relying on it. I read somewhere that as little as 20% of all motorcycle 'incidents' are attrbutablle to the other vehicle not seeing the motorcyclist. So far I've had one such 'incident' which I attribute to my assuming that that car driver could see me. The thing went 100% in my favour from an insurance point of view and by giving me time to catch up on some well needed reading, for 3 months.. got off lightly. Lately I have started wearing hi-viz stuff again, and wouldn't suggest doing anything different but it's safest to ride like you left that vest and the rest of your protective kit at home. Just a thought. I entered the Connecticut three day riding course thinking that I should "ride like I'm invisible". I came out of the program riding "like there all out to get ya". Capt Bob in CT.

Well, shoot, Rev, /most/ of the tank is black... "Ugly"? Maybe more like "distinctive"! My aged mother likes it, at least. -doug revmaaatin wrote:

Rev, I know all to well how bullet proof we are not. In the twenty plus years of riding, I've learned quite a bit, some the hard way. I've had two accidents over the years involving vehicles pulling out in front of me (neither claimed they saw me) and one that was all me. I've been lucky. I couldn't begin to count how many times I've almost been wiped out by vehicles pulling out in front of me. Out of all the motorcycles I've owned, I think I had fewer problems riding the Harley then any other bike. It was so damn loud, that you couldn't help but to hear me coming. Even my Venture royal, as big as it was, was invisible. I treat every vehicle as though they are out to hit me, and do my best to avoid them. It's been a long time, so I'm sure my number is coming up again. I can say one thing for certain, even though I don't want it to happen this way, but If I die riding my motorcycle, at least I'll have died doing something I really love to do. Keep that in mind when your haulin me away. Amen, Tim.... PS....Thanks for doin what you do and hopefully I will never have to meet you at work. :)
