From the rear, but it's kind of a pain. The biggest obstacle will be that black plastic "firewall," but you can do it with a little patience. Basically, you remove the rubber protective "boot," pull the connector off and look for the rounded end of the spring-clip retainer. I like some di-electric grease in the connector, and for ALL connectors. Remember to not touch the bulb with your bare hands because the oil from your skin isn't good for bulb longevity. it can be changed with the fairing on. I'm limber and lean. I do it standing on the right side(front brake lever), next to the tank and facing the rear of the bike. looking over my right shoulder and using my right hand I'm able to get the angle of the dangle right. and pull the plug off. Mark, I've yet to change my headlight bulb but I've had the fairing off and it's a snap. Simply remove the three screws (two sides and one under light) then pull out the two 10 mm bolts inside on the support frame, disconnect the turn signal bullet connections and it comes right off. The wind screen, signal lights and stems remain with the fairing, no need to remove them. Clean and grease you speedo cable while your in there and use blue locktight when reinstalling the fairing. Oh and make up your accessory cig lighter connection for your cell phone charger off of those two loose bullet connections in there also. --Jim A-15

No no, can be changed in place, just a pain in the arse to get your meathooks in behind the instruments. Electrical plug pulls off, straight to the rear. Then the rubber dust cover. Then there's a brass colored retainer ring, press in and rotate CCW about 90degrees or so. Spring loaded so whatch that you don't drop the bulb. Remember to keep the glass element of the bulb free from oily finger prints or other debris. Not really hard or easy, just a bit tedious. hth, MarkB

Pretty easily. Turn the bars to one side (I turn right) and stick your hand in there. If you've never done it, it might be easier to take off the fairing the first time to see where everything is and how it operates. After that, it's a snap. I had to grease everything up this last time with silicone. The rubber boot was starting to stick. Thanks Guy for info on socket requirement for Wagner 1210. A question for the rest of you that have ever replaced bulb. How in the world do you put that clip back on? Sweet baby Jesus! I took it off before I realized the rubber peels back and now for the life of me can't figure if it goes over top, under or what. Do remember the "arm" part was on the right. Also, was no turning of bulb when removing old or putting in new though the Clymer manual says push/turn. Plus with bulb in slots wires go straight down as I expect they should so if this "turning" has to occur it must be only a couple degrees? Obviously I have no business working on a motorcycle if I can't even pull this one off. Still too windy to ride here on the front range (Longmont/Boulder CO area) so I'll just wait while you taulk amoungst yourselves.
