I've posted several times lately with nothing showing up in the list. Is there a BS filter in there somewhere? __Arden Kysely A11 "Mr. K"

I don't think so, but there is the Yahoo servers which don't seem to operate very consistently. Sometimes a post will show up as much as a day late, sometimes almost immediately.

This has happened to me also, if you have one of those "scroll wheel" type mouse it is very easy to inadvertently change the address in the drop down box. I now make a point of double checking the addy before hitting send. A BS filter? We'd have nothing to read......cosmo

Just testing. This is a single return space. This is a double return space. This is no space. Seems Opera 7.01 just kinda adds lines or confuses yahoo into doing it. Dooden

doohickey spring

Post by Bogdan Swider » Wed Jun 07, 2006 11:32 am

For a guy that doesn't consider himself super mechanical I sure have had my engine apart numerous times. ( The people at the dealer's parts counter point me out as an expert mechanic but that only illustrated how standards have nose dived. Also as H. Youngman said when asked " How's your wife ?" Henny said "Compared to what ?" ) Anyway, I knew it was probably unnecessary but I couldn't help myself and decided to replace some compromised spacers during the Moab tech session that Eagle Mike organized. And it's a good thing I did........While in there the doohickey spring was there to be inspected. Note, this was fourth spring that's been attached to the lever. The first two were stock, the third was one Jake sourced somewhere and the last an Eagle 37mm. This spring while nicely intact - unlike its predecessor which broke on one side - was limp as a noodle. There was no space between the coils. Mike's expert advice was to go to a 34mm. Sure enough the smaller spring applied the proper tension and the lever moved visibly. If the spring isn't pulling it might as well not be in there at all. One more case for the sordid history of the klr idler lever and friends. Bogdan

How embarrasing. Seems like I have been responding to the message author for the last week or so rather than changing the destination to the list in the drop down box. Sorry to have bothered you Fred and whoever the list owner is. As I recall I am not the only one to have made this mistake.:-P Joe
