Hi everyone,
My name is Corey Havn. I live and play in the Salt Lake City, Utah
area. I am just getting back into motorcycles after a 10 year hiatus
that was mostly due to having small children. Well, the kids are
growing up fast and they have dirt bikes of their own now...so I
wanted to get a bike that I could take out riding with them and also
use to commute to work. A little research and i decided to buy a
KLR...almost bought a new one, but instead heeded some sage advice
given here to get a used one first.... so today I picked up a 2000
(A14) with 19000 miles on it for $1500. I plan on doing the
recommended mods to it and riding it. The DPO left it outside for much
of it's life, so the plastic is severley UV damaged and faded...no
biggie. I think the first thing I need to do is get the fork springs
as I am a "big guy"...270lbs or so.
Anyways, I am excited to continue to learn from those of you willing
to share your experiences....and to get out riding.. as soon as I get
all the gear I need. (Bought a SHOEI helmet on the way home from
picking up the bike.)
Corey

Sounds like a good deal. Who cares what it looks like. That way you won't
care if you drop it. You will have much more fun with it.
I just bought a 2006 KLR, and I am such a pussy about not wanting to scratch
it. Duh..
