hi sorry if this question has been asked before. Iam trying to get a straight answer from the dealers in South Africa, but not having much luck How much is the max whieght that is safe to ride with ( passanger wise), on scraped sand roads ? I not talking about taking serious nocks, but a few pot holes here and there. I am about 100Kg and my passanger is about 80Kg Will it make much differance if iam the passanger, seeing though i will be sitting further back on the seat ? On p. 19 of my US owner's manual it gives the maximum load as 182 kg; this includes any/all baggage and accessories. So, you're at the top of the permitted load range. You may want to beef up the subframe bolts with one of the aftermarket kits, but regardless you should regularly check and make sure those bolts are tight. Any bolt will quickly break if it comes loose. (Loctite is your friend!) With that kind of load you'll quickly find that the stock spring and shock are not up to the task, even with the maximum preload set. If you plan on a lot of two-up riding you'll want to get at least a heavier rear spring, if not a better shock absorber, too. Check the FAQ for a list of vendors. I now have a mirror mount with the choke mounting machined onto it. They are available from Fred www.arrowheadmotorsports.com, and from the crew at Happy Trails www.happy-trail.com When I got my aftermarket switch kit it included a kluge of nuts and washers combined to make a choke mount, and I wanted a cleaner method.
