You just have to bear whatever the market in your area offers. I'm in San Diego and there are some going out the door for $5000 or lower. A guy in Colorado can't find one for less than $5900 out the door. We might be able to buy a KLR cheaper in San Diego but then we pay more for license and gas. Maybe it all evens out? Rod

I suspect that Dual Sports are just nowhere as big on the east coast as they are out west. The Frappr map suggest that too. They just ship so few bikes this way that once in a while they get caught monkeying around with supply rather than their being any huge spurt in demand. As a result, a single magazine article can cause a run on KLR's around these parts. Good luck and be patient. I tried to buy used (central NC) and two weeks after I gave up and bought new a lister 40 miles from my home let one go for a really good price. It's winter time now, you can afford to be patient.

The best deal I could find was the $5,100 at Orange County Motorsports. You can see their ad on www.cyclenews.com. Todd is the general manager that I dealt with and was very helpful. I bought mine last month. Also, I was talking to the webmaster at Kawasaki Motors telling him how useful I find the parts diagrams on www.buykawasaki.com. He said that in two to three months they are going to redesign that whole section of the site to make it more efficient to look up and retrieve data. Lastly, Bubba is on fire after winning the first two rounds of the World Supercrosss and pumped for the upcoming Supercross series. I cannot wait!!!! Was the $5100 for the bike only, or OTD? Mine was $5199 OTD 7/22/05 for a red 06. I paid for mine $5,399 OTD in Oakland, CA. The MSRP price is $5,149 but most dealers will try to add extra fees like freight charge (which in fact is already included in the MSRP price) to raise the price then negotiate it down. Here is the real breakdown: Dealer invoice: $4,493 Freight charge :$150 Assembly credit: ($77) Hold back fee on MSRP: (257.45) Actual final cost to the dealer: $4,311.55 Add Sales tax, DMV fee and a profit (something like 10%-15%)to get the price you should try to reach. I got these numbers from http://cyclebuy.com In Oakland, CA, these numbers give me a final price of $5,307.69. The dealer wanted a bit more than 10% profit which was ok for me. Frederic Neema
