Damit!
I scanned this thread best I could and never saw anything indicating
missing parts evidence.
Guess I may have missed it.
What I see is an inexperienced mechanic that has done what many of us
have done.
Many have installed the speedo hub wrong and bent the speedo drive
plate to the point the speedo quit workin.
I sure hate seein someone victimized by a dealer mistake, waitin for
a part that could have been pounded out flat again and be ridin in a
few minutes.
Oh well, just keep takin em to the dealers guys!

I did that one time but luckily noticed the speedo wasn't acting right
and turned around and took it back apart and discovered my ineptness. I
am a real shade tree. I do it once, twice or three times to get it
right. Great practice but makes my back hurt and makes me drink more
and say blankety blank blank!
No wait, my brother is in the Shade Tree Hall of fame. I witnessed him
use his wife's sewing tape measure to measure a transmission spline on
his old Ford truck once. And he does wonders with a set of washers (er
redneck spacers).
The thing about working on your bike yourself if you occasionally screw
something up due to your ineptness or lack of tools, you still save
money over taking it to a dealer (and sometimes the mechanics there are
no better than you plus they are being pressured to turn them out
quickly). And you gain experience and confidence.
