1996 mid-model changes

Post by mikehailwood63119 » Tue Nov 29, 2005 7:59 am

According to BigCee FAQs, some improvements were made to the KLR650 during the 1996 model year. Is there a serial number cut-off one can use to determine if your 1996 is pre- or post- model improvements? Or, how can one tell by observing external engine clues which 1996 version you have? Mike

There are a couple of them on eBay...around $16. Search under KLR, not KLR 650 or KLR650.

1996 mid-model changes

I have a sheet with all the cut-offs on it but it is currently unaccessible. You could check the parts listing at www.buykawasaki.com and it will list two part numbers for before and after any changes with the engine serial number for the changes.
