For a while they were asking for about 2 million to do the needed steps to start selling to the public. Sounds like this is the plan to get the ball rolling without that investor. -- Doug Herr doug@...

It's hard for me to consider a diesel KLR, when I wouldn't really want a diesel cage of any sort. If I had my choice at the same price, I'd choose a gas KLR. Rod,,,,,sometimes not gettin it. --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, Thane Silliker wrote:

Rod, Yeah...but those things are supposed to get around 110 mpg! I sure wouldn't pay $19k for one...but if it were the same cost as a new gas one...I'd seriously think about it. Why no diesel, car or otherwise? The engines have far more useable torque in the useable range, last far longer, and get 50-100% better mileage. I'm interested in the diesel KLR but not at anyway near that price. Jeff A20 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Rod, I'm with you about choosing a gas KLR. I'd love to have a full blown military KLR as a collector but the cost is just too much for me. I do have a military Harley MT-500 but only as a collector bike. I kind of wish I didn't have it most days. The issue I think folks would experience with the diesel KLR for normal use is potential lack of parts support. Especially when traveling. How'd you like to get a part when you breakdown on a Friday afternoon of a three day weekend? For the gas KLR I think you might have a chance but with the diesel KLR you'd be contacting the only distributor in the nation or world... I don't think chances would be good at all. Not to be Captain Obvious, but wasn't this designed for USMC? -and the diesel is a consolidation of fuel/ NATO thing. It allows the troops to have only two fuel requirements (jet and diesel) As for the marketing, who would have thought the Hummer would sell as many suvs back when it was first introduced to the consumer market. 19 grand for a KLR? , as PT Barnium said, there's a sucker born every minuet. -Eric p.s. anybody have a suggestion for 90/10 street/trail tires?--- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, scott quillen wrote:
