Hey all,
new here and was hoping to get some help.
I was riding my 2000 klr650 home from work the other day and as i was
getting up to cruising speed on the highway it started stalling. I
pulled over to see what the heck was going on and found that it would
run as long as i didn't give it more than the tiniest ammount of
throttle. It idled fine but as soon as i gave it any throttle it would
start to stall. I managed to get home by using the choke to get the
engine to rev higher and give me a little acceleration.
Any ideas on what caused this to happen and what i might do to fix it?
I had adjusted the idle screw a bit a couple of days prior, could that
have been the problem?
Any help is welcome,
Thanks

It sounds like either junk in the carb, or a carb diaphragm. There's a chance it's somthing to do with the vacuum hose, vacuum diaphragm in the petcock. Given your description if you have a fuel filter and low fual in the tank, it wouldn't hurt to check, but that's secondary. all the best, Mike> > Hey all, > new here and was hoping to get some help. > I was riding my 2000 klr650 home from work the other day and as i was > getting up to cruising speed on the highway it started stalling. klr stalling?!?
Start with the easy stuff. Clean out your carb vent line (pink), and
clean the tank vent under and inside you fuel cap. Drain the fuel
from your float bowl. Clean your air filter. You can also try some
Sea Foam fuel treatment before you remove the carb for cleaning. Keep
us posted.

Wow! Remember when you always had to break the cold clutch plates
loose when kick starting the old Brit Bikes. Triumphs, Norton,
Matchless, BSA's the ones I had.
I just start my KLR up, let it warm a bit, hold the clutch in, blip
the throttle a few times now and no problems.
The BMW don't care. Dry clutch.
