'06 price in rapid city, south dakota

Listers, I was doing some errands this morning and stopped by the local Kawasaki shop to see if they had any KLRs. They had one '06 KLR650 on the floor. It was the red and silver model. The forks were still in the shipping position. I mentioned it to the sales guys and they all laughed and said they knew. Then they really grinned and said it was set up for a short rider. I asked about the price as it was marked at $5,399. They said they didn't have much wiggle room but would probably let it out the door for $5,200. I didn't pursue it any further as I don't need a second KLR right now. They did confirm that they can sell all the KLRs they get. Just another data point. K, I mentioned to the sales guys the prices they were going for in California and they said they didn't have the market here where they could do that. So I suppose that might be understood to mean they would if they could. But now you have it and can enjoy it. Jeff, yes the market here allows for higher prices. Which is ok I guess, because the guy who sold the bike needs to pay a higher rent/mortgage than somewhere else in US. Bottomline, I love that bike, and I have lots of fun with it .. so much fun : I had my first crash yesterday .. will post another message about that. have a good day, -- karim

All I am going to say is some dealers think "out the door" is the price BEFORE they add on transportation, title fee, documentation fees, set-up fee, and whatever else. Might want to ask these questions, cause my wife and I called and were given out the door price (same amount) plus tax of course, so I could show up and pay straight up, however.. then they added all the other BS to the cost. Needless to say it was a considerable amount higher at time of purchase. Food for thought Dooden A15 Green Ape

Strange concept of what a door is .. In my case, the base price was about 5,200. Then, they add sales tax, registration and DMV fees, shipping and assembly, documentation, ... The price "out the door" is the total price they charged me. Thus, I paid exactly $6,100 -- karim
