Well, count me in as having changed my mind, if only a bit. The bro-in-law was killed in an m/c wreck last week. From the information I have, it sounds like a classic case of cage-turning-left-in-front-of bike. In this case, a Baggy Wing might have saved a life. Jud Jones wrote:

Air bags are a bit of a misnomer with motorcycles. They should quit pretending its a safety device and just call it what it is - an ejection seat. For cages - where you're already buckled in - fine - front air bags are a great idea. Even there I have doubts about the wisdom of the 15 airbags in a BMW. What next - meteor impact deflection shields? Lightning protection? Where airbags ARE in use, ever notice all the warnings about wearing your seatbelt in addition to the airbag? It's not just because the airbags are intended only to supplement. It's because air bags are built on some extremely important assumptions about where the person to be deccelerated is going to be during a crash. It's why the disabling switches are now mandantory - because the assumptions aren't valid for everyone.

I just feel in some scenarios, hitting a bag filled with air first instead of a metal door would be a good thing. I hope they perfect it. They have saved lives in cars. On a bike, you don't have a chance of good things happening if you broadside a car. Criswell

Yeah I think you are on to something. Something the rider could wear seems more feasible. But ...... we have hard enough time getting riders to wear helmets. Never have understood the magic of riding hemet less although did that a lot in younger days. Even if all that hits your head is a grasshopper at 80 per or being behind a cement / gravel truck with no face protection. It isn't magic to me. Criswell
