Has anyone had any experience with Mefo tires?Looking for a long
lasting replacement with good traction on/off road. They look
good.KLR650.com sells them. Made in Germany.Looking for a good
tire.75% road 25% dirt roads/trails. I am afraid that AM 24 Gripsters
won't be agressive enough. Are Gripsters worse on dirt than an a stock
KLR tire? Dave

Yes, I use them and can honestly say they are great tires for both street and dirt. I got over 9,000 miles out of a set, and have a complete report with user update of the MEFO Sport explorer online at http://www.angelfire.com/co/klr650/rearaxle4.html I used to primarily use Gripsters, but have also used Distanzis and IRC GP110s. I run MEFOs too and I don't know of a better match for the KLR's capabilities. I broke mine and I am dreading to see what kind of damage there is on
the inside of the engine case. I have kept the balancer chain
tensioner adjusted as per factory specs. Looking at the price of a new
chain at $258 has got me kind of miffed. A new engine case for the
left side costs $140. How can they justify $258 for a friggin' chain?
Do any of you know what might have caused this, and has it happened to
any of you? Thanks for letting me rant.
