thanks for the tip since im loking at buying a klr 2003 next year i got to look if they corrected a few problem in the future but one thing that scare me of it is the timing chain tensionner that break only after 8000km ive read in this newsgroup but i hope they change de faulty problem next year my xt 500 had less problem only that it wasnt liquid cooled and in deep trail it would over heat causing vapor lock so i had to let it cool down .at the moment i drive a concours 1000 but i miss my dual purpous motorcycle so time will tell keep up the good work.

The KLR hasn't changed since 1987, and it's not going to change for 2003. The best thing to do as soon as you pick up your KLR is to install the Jake's replacement balancer tensioner lever (you can get all the tools necessary from him, www.sagebrushmachine.com) and check the valves. Even better, convince the dealer to do it for you, or tell him you'll go somewhere else with your money. Dropping the triple tree / fork relationship 2-3" - humm. Quicker steering
for sure, stability at greater speed (50+mph) will be, ah, 'sensitive'. This
assumes that you are not planning on lowering links or a short uni-shock out
back. Quicker steering mods such as you are requesting info on modifies many
variables. Of course, you know this, so go for it if you are not interested
in stability.

Will lowering the forks in the triple tree 2-3" adversely affect the
handling of this bike(KLR). I also have a 98 KTM 400 with about 40
miles on it and was wondering if anyone knows how much this bike is
worth. Thanks in advance
