http://www.angelfire.com/mo/motormark/mikescarbmod.html Ok, I know the talk is that there is not a whole lot you can do to a KLR to get a whole lot more power, but I am just getting a craving to try and make some more power if it is actually available. Has anyone tried the mods that are included in the link above. I don't really need more power and I will not do anything to the carb or exhaust if it's only a pipe dream, but what are opinions out there? Mike

don't waste your time. 33mpg . 20 percent increase ... B.S IMHO the best mod is open the pilot a 1/2 turn or so, and drill the diaphram. better response. Better milage is reported w/o drilling the slide. I really want to go back to stock. quieter and better milage than 43mpg urban miles.

I agree with Van. I'll add that a 14toother is the best performance increase for the buck! Course I can't quite do a hundred anymore, but I don't care! Rod

I was trying to understand what is ment by drilling the diaphram. I just don't know enough about this carb to know exactly what you mean. Any help? --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Rodney Copeland" wrote:

Drilling the diaphragm would be a bad thing to do. There is a modification to the slide. By enlarging the hole in the slide next to the hole for the needle and should have minimal effect on fuel use. To get better mpg, don't twist the throttle so hard. Fred www.arrowheadmotorsports.com since 1906

I did the slide drill out as per instructions from Dyna Jet kit. Gave it a quicker throttle response which I like. Criswell

oh man, thanks so much Fred. ooooh dont drill that diaphragm.! I agree 100 percent with that fact of the larger hole causing any drop in mpg has everything to do with having fun and twisting that throttle.

Hi Fred, What effect does drilling that hole have? How much bigger? Rick A17 Drilling the diaphragm would be a bad thing to do. There is a modification to the slide. Drilling the hole to 1/8" will improve throttle response by 26.735% :-\ I don't really know but it can be felt by the SOP meter. (seat of the pants) Fred www.arrowheadmotorsports.com
