I guess most of you know that I live in Gulfport, Mississippi. My family and I made it safely out of harm's way and are staying with good friends in Brandon (east of Jackson), Mississippi. Looks like we might have to stay here for quite awhile. I have some good friends and neighbors who would not listen to me and evacuate. Even if they survive and their homes are not totally destroyed, their suffering is going to be unbearable when it is all said and done because of the intense heat, high humidity, the stench, lack of utilities, food, water and basic sanitation. I survived Hurricane Camille back in 1969, even though I lived right on the Gulf of Mexico and was personally hit by the tidal wave. That is something you don't want to risk going through twice! Tho loss of home and property, while devastating, is not nearly as bad as losing relatives and friends. I recall standing for hours in the blazing heat just to get the basic necessities of life for many days after Camille. The Red Cross and the Salvation Army were most helpful to the victims of Camille. If any of you want to do something to help these people on the Gulf Coast, a monetary donation to the Red Cross and Salvation Army will do more good than anything else (from my experience). These people work tirelessly to reduce the amount of suffering that the victims have to endure. Lloyd Rauschkolb Gulfport, (under siege) Mississippi

Glad to hear you are alright Lloyd. I remember driving along the Gulf and seeing all the damage that Camille did. It was amazing. John Lyons lives in New Orleans. I hope he evacuated his home and is safe. There are many other KLRists that live along the Gulf and I hope they are all taking safe refuge from this storm. Yes, the Red Cross is a great source for help in times like these. Fred www.arrowheadmotorsports.com

Lloyd, God bless you and anyone else affected! Some Canadians seem to forget how you 'Muricans come thru when the 'sh*t hits the fan' for us and the rest of the world, but a LOT of us don't. My prayers are with you, and my donation's coming thru the Canadian Council of Bishops (Catholic) to the US equivalent. All the best! Ed

I was very happy with my eBay experience. I bought a very clean 2004 with 1200 miles for $3750 last November. I wish I could fare that well with all my vehicle purchases. Mike A18
