engine stalling problem

All those Doohickey talks have me worried . I got me a 650 in June ( Yes ,I deserved it...... ) around 1500 miles on it now , I use it everyday rain or shine to commute . Do I HAVE to replace that doohikey? Is it a must do? By reading the manual I've got a pretty good idea about what it is for ;but if it desintegrates is it covered by the warranty? You don't HAVE to do anything to your KLR except add gas to the tank every now and then. Is it a good idea to change the oil every now and then? Yes. Will your stock doohickey fail? Maybe, maybe not. It's one of those "warm fuzzy" things that you do if you don't want to continually worry about whether yours will be one of those that detonates and locks your motor up, causing extensive/expensive damage. It has a What ? Auto shutdown... where on the bike would that be ? I would check the valves if its that old, not sure if really tight valve will cause it to stall. But never hurts to stick a feeler gauge in there to make sure the vavles are doing the right thing and closing when suppose to be. Orginal post did'nt really have enough info to really even make a guess as to what the cause is, could be a bad CDI that when warmed up pukes, could be bad fuel lines or a clogged filter if installed. Hot as in when the bike warms up to stalls or after running in 1st gear for a few miles through the forest hot ? If its overheating could just remove the thermostat and run the bike that way to see what happens. When the bike stalls does it still have a spark ? Change the spark plug ?
