Amazing. Counting my KLR, my truck, and my wifes car, MAYBE we put 30,000 a year on. I drive 12 miles to work. She drives the same only 4 days a week. I usually ride between 5,000 to 7,000 miles a year on the bike. Depending on the length of the season.

Reminds me of the crappy Brad Pitt movie release over here in 97, I
think. (Dark Side Of The Sun)
It put me into a frenzy to get a KLR.
Now, here I am 6 years later with nearly 30,000 on the Mighty KLR and
still havin a blast at 50!

Actually I should qualify that statement:
Before I came to Bahrain I drove about 50 miles round trip to work, 200 to
500 miles most weekends with the occasional 1500 to 2000 mile weekend. For
the last 2 years I have been without a bike until I got my KLR. Even though
I am now on an island that measures 15X40 miles and live 2 miles from work I
am on track to put about 10, 000 on the KLR this year. If my situation
would let me travel into Saudi Arabia I would easily be on track for 20,000.
I just love to ride.

when is it too soon to switch to sythetic?
I switched to Mobil 1 synthetic at 1100 miles. I then
moved over to Rotella T synthetic at 1900. (I change
my oil around every 1000 miles) Everything runs great
so far and I am up to 4500 miles on my A19 with no
signs of anything wrong.
