buzzing metallic noise in front?

My Y2KLR makes a metallic buzz periodically at certain speeds/ vibrations. It sounds sort of like a key vibrating agaist the bars would (like if you had a set of keys on the starter key) Its really annoying and I can't seem to tell where its coming from. Seems like behind the speedo or somwhere in there. I have felt around with my hand and grabbed various springs and cables to see if I can find the culprit but no luck. Just curious if this is a common problem (known fix) Any Ideas? -Brian

Your headlight bracket has broken the bottom suport. No big deal. Just remove it. The two side bolts will hold it in place. I've been riding like that for 13 years. The bracket is a POS. Dan

After going over every screw and bolt holding the various guards and bits of plastic in that area, as well as mounting a rubber vibration dampers (bits of old inner tube) between things that might vibrate against each other (such as the water overflow tank and plastic guard), my buzzing sound turned out to be from a loose fork stanchion bolt. Mine seems to be coming from the left side of the engine and almost has a rushing air or metallic vibration sound. It seems to be speed (or RPM) controlled as well as being controlled by the clutch. If I going along and pull the clutch in it stops. let it out and it's back. I though maybe my timing chain was a bit loose but that would seem to me to want to make more noise when just starting from cold. I also thought it was the drive chain. I never did get around to re-adjusting it after putting the new chain on. But that didn't make sense either. So I am back to guessing its the clutch plates.

Mine was the radiator screen--but all the noises disappear when I have my headphones on...

The cost of replacing driveshafts cuts both ways, as in: " 400 bucks in 60,000 miles. Hell, thats cheaper than chains and sprockets on a KLR>" ;-{>
