Thanks for the input! From your responses, I suspect the amount of vibration I'm getting on my KLR is probably abnormal. I'll make sure to have it checked thoroughly when it goes in for its first service. Are ther any other KLR's in FLorida? BIERDO

thanks to all for the replies; i'd always heard she was "very smooth for a single", which means about like they said for my vulcan 1500, um, "handles well for a 700 lb. cruiser". dan's gripe about the self-destructing equipment on his new machine slowed me down, but i'm headed to the shop, maybe take the plunge. looking forward to owning the dang bike -- the list is great! larry k. and yes, i'm in florida, tallahassee (really alabama, except they put the state capitol here). lew waterman and another one at least are in w. palm beach area. the swamp things are everywhere. -----Original Message----- From: Dan Oaks [mailto:formtech@...] Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2000 5:43 PM To: DSN_klr650@egroups.com Subject: [DSN_klr650] Vibrations Thanks for the input! Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2005 21:21:44 -0000 From: "kayak_shack" Subject: BAD vibrations Hey folks, I have a 93 KLR with abtou 36,000km on it. Stock gearing, Enduro Engineering aluminum handguards and gel grips. I commute on it and my forearms are dying!!! THey ache after rides and my wrists and hands are "pins and needles" after a ride of an hour or so at highway speed. I often ride dirt roads & trails during ht esame daily ride as the highway stuff so gearing up to a 16T front sproket isn't really an option. Any suggestions? BAr snake? I haven't adjusted the doohickey this year yet (and never replaced the stocker). I need to bring the vibes down before my wrists go completely numb. Thanks in advacne for any suggestions. I think it time to do the doohicky. I had that problem with mine [20001 a-15]at 8000 miles [Before I was on this list and knew about doohickey ] I carried it into my Kawasaki shop complaining about vibration and the mechanic rode it said it wasn't right. left it with him two days he fixed it replaced the doohicky [ with a factory one I am sure] although the adjustment bolt is different most of problem solved. solved the rest with gel grips and a taller set of handle bars pulled back toward me . I intend to replace doohicky when I can but I have five year warranty and don't have time and money to do it now. I am lucky at my kawasaki shop the parts man and one of the mechanic's commute thirty miles one way to work on klr's ---------- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. I bought my KLR earlier this year brand new and it makes my hands tingle if I stay on it long enough. Nothing to do with the doohickey IMO - especially from brand new. Up to an hour is OK but after that look out! Mine blurs the mirrors at 3200 to 3800 and then again at some higher figure I haven't managed to recall. You can feel it through the whole bike, even the tank if you squeeze onto it. Bar snake or a bar full of lead shot might be the go. Dave

I agree about the throttle side being better vibration wise. Dave
