tusk handguards

Received my Tusk hanguards yesterday. Took less than 15 minutes to put each guard on. Very easy installation. It's bestto mount everything loose first, set position, then tighten everything up. Wiring on left bar was in the way but a quick cut of the cable-tie holding the wires to the bar got them out of the way. Must move front break assembly in about 1/2 inch too to clear the lever from the guard. Would reccomend using a hack-saw blade to cut the throttle grip plastic instead of a carpet knife. Would leave a cleaner cut and preclude a trip to the ER for stiches to the hand. Didn't buy the plastic for them yet. Maybe next month when I get more play $$. Shouldn't need the plastic as much once the weather warms up a bit here in Kansas. These bars are stout and should protect the levers very well. I'm happy with them and for $22 ($28 w/ shipping), they are worth the money. Tim __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I used the stock plastic guards and they look real good on my tusk guards. I trimmed the inner end to fit and put 5 mm x 80 pitch bolts in then put nylocks on them. total cost is about 1 buck jim ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! I purchased the Tusk handguards & I was wondering if anybody has "purchased" just the spoilers for them. Rocky Mountain's web site says you have to have the shields then, add the spoilers. The shields are $29.95 & the spoilers are $9.95. Any help? Thanks Penn Carr St Louis

You don't need the shields. The spoilers fit just fine without them. Jim Lexington, Ky A17

...and they offer about 80% of the coverage that the shield and spoiler combination does. If you're low on funds just get the spoilers. If you have an extra $30 burning a hole in your pocket and want a trick look, get the spoilers and shields in contrasting colors. Mark http://www.reelrider.com

My understanding is that the handguard itself, without the plastic wind deflectors, has standard Barkbuster-style holes in it so that any wind/brush deflectors designed for Barkbusters (like, e.g., the big UFO deflectors) will fit on it. True? Or no? -E

It does & I am about to install some... But it looks like they don't come with screws for those holes so I am taking them down to the hardware store to find some... John

The Tusk handguards have two threaded holes for attaching wind deflectors. I made my own wind deflectors out of black plastic 5 gal. oil pails (Rotella T). does doohicky swap void factory warranty?

There's a federal law here in the United States that has been mentioned previously. If Kawasaki wants to deny a claim due to the doohickey swap, Kawasaki has to prove that the doohickey swap caused the problem. Otherwise it doesn't affect the warranty at all -- federal law says you can do any and all work or modification to your bike that you want and the only way it affects the warranty is if the modification itself caused the failure (i.e., Kawasaki is only responsible for what *they* did to the bike, not for what *you* did to the bike!). -E
