Looking for a good example to purchase. I'm on the east coast, and can travel to test ride/pick up. Not crazy about the ebay thing, since I do not want to pay for something before I see how much it smokes.... Jay

You might want to try the gear ratio calculator at http://www.4strokes.com/tech/gear_ratio_chart.pdf . You'll find that reducing the main sprocket by one tooth is less of a reduction than going to the 16t countershaft sprocket. In the meantime I'll note that the KLR is *already* overgeared. It'll top out around 90-95 depending on how closely you tuck behind the windshield and how fat you are (heh!), but the stock gearing would not redline the bike until around 115mph. My KLR is fat and happy with the stock gearing cruising at 90mph (indicated, around 80mph real) on the speedo all day long. -E
