corbin seat options

Post by Ted Kerr » Thu Jun 02, 2005 10:28 am

Morning KLRers, I'm trying to decide between the Corbin Flat and Dished seats. My only real problem with the stock seat is when riding slab to get to the trails. When I'm on the trails the stock seat doesn't bother me at all, so I'm looking for a seat that will be better for slab riding. Which do you think is a better choice? Also, they have a lot of options for seat cover materials, any suggestions there? Thanks for your help! Ted - Denver '96 KLR650 '93 R100GSPD

I'm reposting this as it didn't seem to make it the first time. Hope it doesn't double post. Morning KLRers, I'm trying to decide between the Corbin Flat and Dished seats. corbin seat options

Hi people! I just got an '03 650. I've wanted a KLR for as long as I can remember and am looking forward to a lot of miles and good times on the new scoot. I've always liked Corbin seats and have had them on all my other bikes. Looking at the ones for the KLR, I think I like the look of the dished one better than the flat one. I'd be very interested to see what the group has to say about this. Does anyone have experience with either of the two styles, and which seems to be the most all around comfortable? I'll do plenty of slab riding just to get to the trails I want to ride. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks, Chris Castle Rock, CO

I like my dished Corbin (it's my second one) but many like the flat version. A lot depends on your inseam. If you're inseam-challenged then the dished version works well. You will have to get used to the slide-to-the-front issue with the dished seat. Either is better than the stock pillow. My $.02 on a Friday. I have a Motoport jacket (Spyder, 620 Denier) that's nicely vented after sliding approximately 15ft across the pavement (although 'elbow-venting' isn't really that effective for staying cool). Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I wear leather now... Dirk -- "You know, I have one simple request, and that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads!"
